DESCRIPTION:The Digital Skills EU Days 2026 will take place in Brussels from 29 June to 1 July with a series of working meetings and events focusing on advancing digital skills across Europe and fostering collaboration among stakeholders. \nOn 30 June\, we invite you to join the public programme\, featuring the European Digital Skills Awards 2026 ceremony and the launch of the Quantum\, GenAI and Virtual Worlds Skills Academies. Henna Virkkunen\, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Tech Sovereignty\, Security and Democracy\, will open the public event with a keynote speech and present the awards. \nThe European Digital Skills Awards 2026 ceremony will reveal the five winners across the categories: Digital Upskilling @ Work\, Digital Skills for Education\, Inclusion in the Digital World\, Women in ICT Careers and Cybersecurity Skills. SUMMARY:XR Workshop: Communicating the Energy Transition through Virtual Worlds (UPRAISE)
DESCRIPTION:On 30 June\, join the XR Workshop: Communicating the Energy Transition through Virtual Worlds\, organised in the context of the UPRAISE project. \nOver two days\, students will collaborate in teams to design\, produce\, and publish a real WebXR site focused on the energy transition. Communications students will develop skills in virtual environments and data storytelling\, while engineering and science students will learn how to translate complex knowledge into engaging and accessible narratives. \nAbout this workshop\nThe workshop is organised by the UPRAISE project (under the Digital Europe Programme) and POWER projects\, in collaboration with eComciencia\, the Chair of Energy Transition and the Chair of Circular Economy of the URJC. It brings together communication\, sustainability\, and technology in a single experience—precisely the combination of skills needed to meet current job market demands and support Europe’s ambitions under the Digital Decade and the Green Deal. \nThis is a 2-day intensive summer course where communication and engineering students collaborate to transform energy transition data into immersive WebXR experiences\, combining storytelling\, virtual worlds\, and sustainability. \nLearning outcomes & structure\nParticipants will work in teams of 4–5 students\, guided by expert tutors\, following a hands-on\, project-based approach. SUMMARY:Building Skills for Future Smart Communities
DESCRIPTION:The development of resilient\, inclusive\, and future-ready smart communities depends on a workforce equipped with the skills needed to navigate digital\, green\, and societal transitions. Addressing these challenges requires coordinated action across sectors and stakeholder groups. \nTo support this effort\, the SMARCO project has established the Smart Communities Skills Partnership\, a collaborative initiative bringing together public authorities\, industry\, SMEs\, higher education institutions\, vocational education and training providers\, research organisations\, and civil society actors.
