DESCRIPTION:As part of the Digital Education Action Plan\, the European Commission has actively explored the development of the European Digital Skills Certificate (EDSC)\, aiming to streamline the certification and recognition of digital skills across Europe by governments\, employers\, and stakeholders. Built upon the European Digital Competence Framework (DigComp)\, this framework enables individuals to self-assess their digital skills\, set learning objectives\, and remains adaptable to the dynamic digital landscape. \nIn September 2021\, a feasibility study explored potential scenarios for the EDSC. In collaboration with ALL Digital – a pan-European organization representing over 25\,000 digital competence centers\, the European Commission collected insights through the Digital Competence Certification Community of Practice (CoP) to guide the study’s focus. These insights will contribute to a comprehensive feasibility study\, aligning with the needs of the digital competence community. \nNow\, it’s time to unveil the findings from two key areas of work related to the EDSC: the Feasibility Analysis outlined in Action 9 of the Digital Education Action Plan\, and the Member States EDSC Pilot. The European Commission will present the final results during an online event on Thursday\, 7 December\, 2023\, from 10:00 to 13:00. DESCRIPTION:The Safer Internet Forum (SIF) is a key annual international conference in Europe where policymakers\, researchers\, law enforcement bodies\, youth\, parents and caregivers\, teachers\, NGOs\, industry representatives\, experts and other relevant actors come together to discuss the latest trends\, opportunities\, risks and solutions related to child online safety and making the internet a better place. \nThis year’s edition will take place in a hybrid format on Thursday\, 23 November 2023 with a theme of Empowering YOUth with skills for the Digital Decade. \nWithin the framework of the European Year of Skills and other policy provisions such as the European strategy for a better internet for kids (BIK+) and the increasing impact of the Digital Services Act (DSA) to make sure that all users\, and especially children\, young people and vulnerable users\, are included and safe online\, Safer Internet Forum 2023 will specifically focus on pillars two and three of the BIK+ strategy\, exploring digital empowerment and active participation/respect as it relates to children and young people. \nThe Forum will seek to discuss and showcase initiatives related to the development of digital skills for children\, parents and teachers\, while also paying particular attention to the needs of vulnerable users. The event is being organised in a youth-led manner\, with young people playing an active role in the planning\, preparation and delivery of the Forum. \nParticipants in the Safer Internet Forum will also hear from young influencers who will share their personal experiences of what they have done to address relevant challenges and overcome adversity in the fast-moving online space\, while helping to promote skills development among their peers.
