DESCRIPTION:This is an Erasmus+ project\, in collaboration with expert NGOs in Lithuania and Bulgaria that work with children with learning difficulties. The aim of the project is to help provide more standardised guidance and support material for educators\, specialists\, and even parents on how to provide a more inclusive educational experience for children with specific learning difficulties (SLD). In Solution4SLD\, we focused in particular on dyslexia and dysgraphia. \nFor the past 2 years\, our expert team\, made up of specialists such as speech language pathologists\, psychologists\, teachers\, and learning support educators\, has worked on producing:\n1. A Handbook for Educators: a specially designed guide to introduce educators to children with specific learning difficulties\, enabling them to better recognize how dyslexia and dysgraphia present themselves in children and to give tips on how to provide better learning support. This was written with educators in mind\, so it is written using practical and easy to understand language. The book also includes a chapter on the current context in Malta for children with SLD. \n2. An e-learning platform: This will consist of over 70 worksheets (designed for children of multiple age groups) that people can download for free to use directly with children. These worksheets allow educators/parents to help children work on skills across 6 areas of development: visual perception\, phonological perception\, reading technique\, text comprehension\, grammar skills\, and coherent language. \nSome of these worksheets have also been translated into the form of interactive games for children to play\, targeting the same skill work. \nWe have now reached the stage where most of the material is ready for testing\, so that we ensure that the developed material is user-friendly\, understandable\, and beneficial. We have reached out to you as educators\, specialists\, and even parents so that you may try out the material before it goes live. This is an important aspect as we want to make sure that the material is the best it can be. \nAs Malta\, we have been assigned the material for the 6-8 year age group to test out\, however if you would like access to material for older years (material has been developed for children up to 12 years old) you will receive access to these age groups’ material as well. \nIf you choose to participate\, you will receive:\n1. The Handbook (in English)\n2. A series of worksheets (available in both Maltese and English) \nWhat is expected of people conducting testing is to:\n1. Read the Handbook\n2. Test out at least 2 worksheets with at least 1 child. Testing with multiple children is ideal. Examples of worksheets are attached.\n3. Fill out a simple online feedback form providing your feedback. The form is not extensive\, and will not quiz/test you on the material you read and used to check that you have read it\, but rather ask you what you thought about it\, whether it can be improved\, and whether you and your students/children found it useful and easy to understand.\n4. Submit the form by 19 February. \nTo answer some questions you might have:\n· Participation is free\, as the project is EU-funded. The only stipulation is for you to submit the feedback form by 19 February.\n· All material\, once tested\, will eventually be uploaded online for everyone to be able to use.\n· Your data will not be collected or shared with anyone. We will only collect your email address\, where you did the testing (school and which school\, in private practice/ private lessons\, at home)\, and your role (e.g. primary teacher\, LSE\, parent…). Your name will not be collected/shared.\n· There is no physical event tied to the testing\, such as a course. All correspondence with me will take place virtually.\n· There will be a final project event taking place between February-March\, to present the material created to the public. Attending this is not obligatory but those who do will receive a certificate of participation. \nTo confirm your participation\, simply fill in this online google form: https://forms.gle/WdVnKfsUjaEReUxF6 \nShould you have any further questions\, please send an email to Ms Rebecca Zammit on rebecca@acrosslimits.com
