DESCRIPTION:Girls in Digital Week is back for its second year from 23–27 March 2026. EU Code Week is inviting schools\, families\, coding clubs\, and youth groups across Europe to get involved. This year\, the focus is practical. Organise a Girls Code it Better (GCIB) Sprint and help young people build confidence by creating with code. \nWhat is Girls in Digital Week?\nGirls in Digital Week aims to help bridge the gender gap in digital and STE(A)M by: \n\nCreating safe\, supportive spaces where girls and their peers can explore digital skills with confidence\nOrganising hands-onworkshops\, coding activities\, and GCIB (Girls Code It Better) Sprints\nRaising awareness ofthe value of diversity and representation in technology\nPromoting community-driven initiatives and partnerships through national and regional hubs.\n\nGirls in Digital Campaign\nLeading up to the week\, the Girls in Digital Campaign will run for three weeks from 2–22 March 2026. The campaign will amplify stories of women in STE(A)M and digital fields\, engage parents\, educators\, mentors\, and communities\, encourage local action and participation ahead of Girls in Digital Week\, and showcase community activities and live moments from the field. Content will be shared across social media platforms\, including Instagram\, LinkedIn\, Facebook\, and X. \nHow can you get involved?\nEU Code Week invites government bodies\, NGOs\, schools\, companies\, and individuals to support and contribute to Girls in Digital Week. DESCRIPTION:About the event\nDuring this hackathon\, you will develop a complete innovation project in three days. You will do this in a team\, under the guidance of an experienced coach. At the end of the third day\, you will present the results to a jury. \nWhy participate?\n\nYou will develop new knowledge and technical skills.\nYou will meet motivated and interesting experts in the sector.\nYou can add relevant professional experience to your resume.\nYou will improve your English communication skills.\n\nThis challenge is part of a strategy and commitment to strengthen Belgium’s digital sovereignty. Participants will work locally on secure computers\, using only open source AI models. \nThe goal is to demonstrate how sovereign AI can improve the internal processes of a public administration while ensuring data protection\, model transparency\, and technological control. \nTeams will be required to:\n\nBring their own data (internal documents\, reports\, FAQs\, procedures\, etc.) and create a RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) system—i.e.\, an AI assistant capable of answering questions by querying local files and knowledge bases.\nDevelop a Proof of Concept (POC) that demonstrates how this approach can simplify or automate an existing process in their department (examples: internal support\, document research\, report writing\, file tracking).\nThe ultimate goal is to show how sovereign AI solutions\, hosted and controlled by public services\, can increase the efficiency\, security\, and technological autonomy of the administration.\n\nFinal deliverable:\nEach team will present its functional prototype and results to a jury of experts composed of specialists in AI and public innovation.
